چکیده

Diffusion Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) exploits the anisotropic diffusion of water molecules in the brain to enable the estimation of the brain’s anatomical fiber tracts at a relatively high resolution. In particular, tractographic methods can be used to generate whole-brain anatomical connectivity matrix where each element provides an estimate of the connectivity strength between the corresponding voxels. Structural brain networks are built using the connectivity information and a predefined brain parcellation, where the nodes of the network represent the brain regions and the edge weights capture the connectivity strengths between the corresponding brain regions. This paper introduces a number of novel scalable methods to generate and analyze structural brain networks with a varying number of nodes. In particular, we introduce a new parallel algorithm to quickly generate large scale connectivity-based parcellations for which voxels in a region possess highly similar connectivity patterns to the rest of the regions. We show that the corresponding regional structural consistency is always superior to randomly generated parcellations over a wide range of parcellation sizes. Corresponding brain networks with a varying number of nodes are analyzed using standard graph-theorectic measures, as well as, new measures derived from spectral graph theory. Our results indicate increasingly more statistical power of brain networks with larger numbers of nodes and the relatively unique shape of the spectral profile of large brain networks relative to other well-known networks.

Design and evaluation of two scalable protocols for location management of mobile nodes in location based routing protocols in mobile Ad Hoc Networks

Heretofore several position-based routing protocols have been developed for mobile ad hoc networks. Many of these protocols assume that a location service is available which provides location information on the nodes in the network. Our solutions decrease location update without loss of query success rate or throughput and even increase those.Simulation results show that our methods are effectiv...

Sampling from social networks’s graph based on topological properties and bee colony algorithm

In recent years, the sampling problem in massive graphs of social networks has attracted much attention for fast analyzing a small and good sample instead of a huge network. Many algorithms have been proposed for sampling of social network’ graph. The purpose of these algorithms is to create a sample that is approximately similar to the original network’s graph in terms of properties such as de...

GGRA: a grouped gossip-based reputation aggregation algorithm

An important issue in P2P networks is the existence of malicious nodes that decreases the performance of such networks. Reputation system in which nodes are ranked based on their behavior, is one of the proposed solutions to detect and isolate malicious (low ranked) nodes. Gossip Trust is an interesting previously proposed algorithm for reputation aggregation in P2P networks based on t...

Quasi Random Deployment Strategy for Reliable Communication Backbones in Wireless Sensor Networks

Topology construction and topology maintenance are significant sub-problems of topology control. Spanning tree based algorithms for topology control are basically transmission range based type construction algorithms. The construction of an effective backbone, however, is indirectly related to the placement of nodes. Also, the dependence of network reliability on the communication path undertak...
